Following their UK Arena and European tour, the band YEARS AND YEARS will be heading to Asia and stopping in Hong Kong on March 3 in support of their sophomore album PALO SANTO. The band, fronted by openly gay singer Olly Alexander along with Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkman, formed in 2010 and released their debut album, COMMUNION five years later. That album, which included the singles “King” and “Shine”, debuted at number one in the UK and introduced the world to their electronic sound.
In 2018, they released their hugely anticipated second album PALO SANTO, a universe created from the imagination of Olly. ‘It came from loads of different ideas of what Years & Years is about and what I am about,’ Olly says. ‘I felt like creating that space and playing around in there would be a good thing to do. It has all my favourite things combined: sci-fi, spiritualism, performance and identity.’
Several of their songs off their two albums talk about gay relationships, one of the few mainstream pop bands to do this. Olly has been a big advocate or LGBTQ rights and mental health as he himself suffered from anxiety and depression as well as bulimia. Catch them performing their hits along with tracks from the new album on March 3, 2019 (Sunday) at the KITEC.
