Andrew Gamez-Heath was not expecting the results that he received when he went in for an HIV-Test in 2014. Andrew went in for the test as a precaution for his new relationship with his new boyfriend and videoed him getting the results, which turned out to be positive.
He recently shared the video on social media of him getting the results, which has gone viral and been shared thousands of times. Andrew decided to share the video because he wanted to show people that being HIV-positive was not a death sentence. He has since married the boyfriend he took the test for and Andrew is on medication, with the virus being well-controlled and undetectable. Writing on Facebook, he told people, “ I’m happier and healthier than ever. It’s made me grow as a person and I’m able to do a job that changes perceptions.”
